Requesting state help in New York

On state land and in remote forests, the DEC Forest Ranger force runs search and rescue: the Environmental Conservation Law lets it organize, direct and execute searches for lost persons and civilian aircraft in fire towns and fire districts. Where criminal conduct or a fugitive is suspected, law enforcement has jurisdiction.
